With a reputation built on trust, quality, and community engagement, they are expanding our operations and looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Operations to lead our Long Island region.
THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:
The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day operations of four Supermarkets (Grocery, Produce, Meat, Deli, Bakery, Front-End, and Prepared Foods)in the Long Island area. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, improving store performance, ensuring compliance, and leading store management teams.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and safety standards.
Monitor inventory levels, order accuracy, and stock rotation to reduce waste and shrink.
Manage P&L performance, labor budgets, and cost controls to maximize profitability.
Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in supermarket or multi-unit retail operations.
Experience working with culturally diverse communities and Hispanic retail markets.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) – REQUIRED.
Background in unionized environments is a plus.
Possess and entrepreneurial spirit vs. rigid corporate structure. Make it happen mentality.
Proven leadership in managing multiple locations and cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of grocery retail metrics, merchandising, inventory control, and customer service.
Ability to travel locally between store locations as needed.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends or holidays when necessary.
