Position Summary:
The Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising is a dynamic, strategic leader responsible for driving Our Client’s brand growth, customer engagement, and revenue through innovative marketing and merchandising strategies. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role develops and executes campaigns, loyalty programs, and product assortment plans to elevate the customer experience across convenience stores and fuel retail locations. The VP collaborates cross-functionally to ensure compliance, optimize profitability, and position Our Client as a top C-store brand in the U.S. This high-impact role demands creativity, data-driven insights, and a passion for retail excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and lead comprehensive marketing strategies to boost brand awareness, drive foot traffic, and increase fuel and in-store sales across Our Client’s locations.
Oversee merchandising strategies, including product selection, pricing, placement, and promotions, to maximize revenue and align with customer preferences in the C-store and fuel retail space.
Design and implement customer loyalty programs, digital marketing campaigns, and partnerships to enhance customer retention and engagement.
Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure merchandising aligns with inventory, compliance (e.g., FDA, fuel regulations), and profitability goals.
Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer data to inform marketing and merchandising decisions, leveraging tools like PDI ERP or loyalty platforms.
Lead a high-performing marketing and merchandising team, fostering innovation, accountability, and professional growth through mentorship and clear KPIs.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts for promotional materials, and ensure cost-effective sourcing of merchandise and marketing assets.
Ensure all marketing and merchandising initiatives comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
Present performance metrics, campaign results, and strategic plans to the CEO and executive team, driving data-backed recommendations for growth.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in marketing and merchandising, with 5+ years in a leadership role, preferably in the convenience store, fuel retail, or related retail industry.
Proven track record of driving revenue growth, with measurable results in brand awareness, customer acquisition, and sales (e.g., increased foot traffic by 20%).
Strong knowledge of C-store operations, including fuel pricing, loyalty programs, and merchandising for grab-and-go food, beverages, and convenience items.
Experience with digital marketing, social media, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, PDI ERP, or similar platforms).
Exceptional leadership skills, with experience managing teams and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, EPA, OSHA) relevant to C-store and fuel retail marketing and merchandising.
