Director of Manufacturing (Food Manufacturing & Commissary Operations)
Position Summary
The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to oversee the overall operations of Our Client’s food manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with governmental food safety regulations, good manufacturing practices, and plant safety programs. The Director drives operational excellence, fosters a culture aligned with Our Client’s core values, and sustains strong relationships with vendors, retail partners, co-workers, and other departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Core Values:
Lead by example, adhering to the company’s mission statement and fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability.
Strategic and Operational Management:
Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve departmental and company objectives.
Drive LEAN initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
Develop and manage the department budget, monitoring performance to ensure alignment with financial expectations.
Oversee inventory management to support business needs and maintain optimal levels.
Regulatory and Quality Compliance:
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to develop and execute HACCP, SOP, and SSOP programs.
Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Maintain and enforce industry quality and safety systems, regulations, and practices.
Team Leadership and Development:
Supervise and develop all production staff, providing timely and professional performance feedback.
Facilitate large group meetings to communicate company goals, metrics, financials, and departmental updates.
Foster coworker development through coaching, teamwork, and collaboration.
Distribute and communicate company goals and metrics to production managers and staff.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with the production operations team and other departments to ensure alignment.
Build and sustain strong working relationships with vendors, retail partners, and Support Center departments.
Respond to changing priorities with flexibility and professionalism.
Policy and Process Development:
Oversee the development and administration of policies and procedures related to people, food safety, and operational processes.
Enforce company policies and ensure adherence across the production team.
Technology and Systems:
Utilize software and systems including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, AS400, SAP, MES, and WMS to support operational needs.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent food production work experience (5-8 years) in a fast-paced production facility.
Working knowledge of departmental financial operations, including budgeting and operating statements.
Proven experience in strategic planning, assessment, and implementation.
Knowledge of industry quality and safety systems, regulations, and practices.
Ability to lead, teach, and persuade through cooperation and teamwork.
Skill in facilitating large group meetings and managing cross-departmental collaboration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, AS400, SAP, MES, and WMS.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment while remaining calm and organized.
