Job Title: Staff Accountant, Fuel
Position Description:
We are looking for a candidate who is extremely detail-oriented and has a strong background in accounting and gl reconciliations.
This position requires a strong in depth understanding of accounting principles as the role is primarily focused on analyzing and verifying financial data and ensuring proper classification of assets, liablities, expenses, revenue, and intercompany transactions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
Significant experience Public/Private Accounting; wholesale fuel experience preferred
Business acumen
Proficiency in MS office in Excel; PDI
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Must be able to train and assist the accounting staff
Excellent presentation skills
Creative, self-disciplined, capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently with a sense of urgency
Must have attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, must speak English.
Essential Job Functions:
Review and perform reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuary of financial data
Perform account analysis and enter all correction journal entries into the accounting system
Edits and processes customer EFTs for assigned companies
Processes monthly, quarterly and annual customer rebates
Processes all returned fuel drafts and other payments
Processes all miscellaneous checks requests
Processes checks for certain motor fuel taxes monthly
Reviews all monthly financial statements and distributes to the CFO
Completes bank reconciliation and cash analysis daily
Reviews Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable aging reports monthly
Manages internal control procedures
Reviews and manages all departmental Promissory Notes
Management of department-wide projects
Handles escalated customer phone calls
Handles escalation of IT issues from the Staff Accountants
Conducts performance reviews with the department’s Staff Accountants annually
Reports to the Controller of the Wholesale Accounting Department
