Operations Manager – Distribution Facility
Location: Chattanooga, TN
We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee the efficient operation of our distribution facility in Chattanooga, TN. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing all aspects of the facility's operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, logistics, and staff supervision. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of products and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate has a strong background in distribution operations, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive process improvements.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the distribution facility, ensuring smooth workflow, productivity, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Develop and implement efficient operational processes to optimize inventory control, order processing, and shipping/receiving procedures.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational performance and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
Develop and execute inventory control strategies to minimize stock discrepancies, reduce carrying costs, and optimize inventory turnover.
Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure accurate stock levels and timely replenishment.
Conduct regular inventory audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Collaborate with the sales team to establish order fulfillment priorities, ensuring on-time and accurate order processing.
Monitor order status and track shipments to ensure timely delivery to customers.
Address any customer complaints or issues related to order fulfillment promptly and effectively.
STAFF SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT:
Lead, train, and mentor a team of warehouse and distribution personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to drive individual and team success.
Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
HEALTH AND SAFETY COMPLIANCE:
Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and company policies.
Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
Train employees on safe work practices and enforce safety protocols.
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience (5+ years) in operations management within a distribution or logistics environment.
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and order fulfillment processes.
Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software applications.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
Analytical mindset with the ability to identify areas for process improvement and implement effective solutions.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
