Position Description:
The Retail Controller is responsible for oversight of accounting for company-operated retail and consigned fuel operations. The Controller leads all day-to-day accounting operations and supervises a team with functional responsibility over GL accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, company-operated retail, cosigned fuel and property management accounting. The Controller ensures that systems and procedures are in place to support transparent management information, efficient and effective accounting operations, and minimal adjustments during tax reviews and audits. In addition, the Controller works towards achieving better integration across all functional areas in the company.
Background Profile:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent business experience along with significant experience in Accounting for retail fuel/convenience stores and progressively responsible experience
PDI/enterprise experience preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP (CPA preferred)
Knowledge of and skill in using MS office suite and accounting software packages
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Sound judgment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must speak English.
Essential Job Functions:
Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicating results on a periodic basis as required by management
Reviews all account analysis to ensure accounts are materially correct
Maintains internal control and safeguards assets and expenditures
Preparing financial reports for senior management presentations
Ensures cash is properly stated and controlled
Understands and continually improves all departmental processes
Adjusts personal and team priorities based on management, business, or regulatory needs
Responds to and assists in resolving issues in a timely manner
Acts as a change agent for his or her team when implementing new processes or systems
Leads accounting staff by providing support and decision making as needed
Defines and, as necessary, updates the roles and responsibilities of the Accounting Team
Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization
Creates and promotes a positive, supportive, and diverse work environment with a team focus
