Director of Human Resources
The Director of Human Resources will act as a strategic thought partner to the executive team and owners and will have a business-focused approach to help translate business objectives to human capital strategies. Provides technical expertise and knowledge for effective administration, daily operations, optimization, and continued implementation of the HR processes and systems for the organization. Plans, leads, directs, develops, and coordinates the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy building a positive work environment at all levels to serve all employees across multiple businesses/regions of a growing and diverse 4,000+ employee workforce.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide management support and direction for the employee relations function, talent acquisition, training & development, compensation, and the talent management process and benefits administration processes.
Has responsibility for direct reports in multiple geographic locations and serves as a key member of the leadership team on planning and delivering HR programs and services to the business.
Manages HR reporting to ensure compliance with daily operational requirements to ensure alignment with the strategic vision. Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
Develops and implements departmental budget.
Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
Responsibilities include managing testing, projects, and process documentation for proper system administration for the HRIS, TalentReef HR & Talent Management System, and partnering with the company’s benefits broker with the administration of the employee benefits in all company operations across 16+ states.
Evaluates programs through research, surveys, and analysis of benefit trends to ensure plans are competitive and current. Recommends changes as appropriate and documents practices and procedures, focusing on continual improvement
Provides guidance to the HR team around coaching and counseling on employee relations matters, appraising performance, maintaining effective communications and management guidance and administration of the workers compensation program.
Oversee the development of employee communication to ensure benefit and compensation programs are communicated effectively and accurately.
Oversees retirement program including enrollment and changes.
Analyzes data and provides reports and metrics to management as requested.
Assists with various Human Resource projects as needed.
Priorities change rapidly, so the ability to pivot quickly and effectively is an absolute requirement.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Communication, or a related field is strongly preferred.
At least twelve (12) years of prior experience working in Human Resources in a HR leadership capacity.
Prior experience managing all HR functions to include Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Training & Development, Compensation and Benefits Administration in a high-volume Retail environment.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
Prior experience working as a HR leader managing the employee relations & investigative process for a HR department.
Prior experience as an administrator in Kronos UKG Ready (Workforce Ready), Paylocity or a similar program, is required.
Previous experience coordinating employee benefits, e.g. health, dental, vision coverage, evidence of Insurability processing etc. required.
Must have strong English verbal and written skills.
Must be proficient in multiple Microsoft platforms, including: Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Advanced Excel and report writing skills.
Ability to understand how specific data and processes relate to overall system and department performance.
Must have functional knowledge of HR business requirements and processes.
Must have exceptional project management, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage changing and conflicting priorities.
Must be familiar with federal and state laws governing equal employment opportunity.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to excel in a team environment.
Must possess extensive problem-solving skills and the ability to research an issue and identify the root cause.
10-15% travel to multi-site environments.
