Position Overview:
As the Assistant Truck Services Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient and effective operation of our truck services department. Working closely with the Truck Services Manager, you will assist in overseeing all aspects of truck maintenance, repair, and servicing to ensure optimal performance, safety, and customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include supervising staff, coordinating schedules, managing inventory, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Supervision:
Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising truck services staff.
Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to team members.
Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Operations Management:
Assist in planning and organizing daily operations of the truck services department.
Coordinate schedules for maintenance, repair, and servicing of trucks to minimize downtime.
Monitor workflow and allocate resources effectively to meet service demands.
Customer Service:
Interact with customers to understand their truck service needs and address any concerns.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing quality service in a timely manner.
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and promptly.
Inventory Management:
Assist in managing inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies required for truck maintenance.
Coordinate with suppliers to procure necessary materials and ensure timely delivery.
Conduct regular inventory audits and maintain accurate records of stock levels.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of truck services.
Perform inspections and quality checks on completed work to verify compliance with standards.
Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT requirements.
Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols among staff.
Conduct safety training sessions and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare reports on departmental performance, including productivity, maintenance records, and customer feedback.
Maintain accurate records of service orders, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Provide regular updates to management on operational issues, challenges, and successes.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the trucking repair and maintenance and/or travel center industry.
Strong knowledge of truck maintenance and repair procedures.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in computer software for inventory management and reporting.
Understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in truck services management is a plus.
