Shell: ‘Brent field back on line’

Shell has restarted gas produciton at the Brent field in the North Sea after safety fears forced the shut-in of four platforms earlier this year.

The Anglo-Dutch supermajor will, however, have to wait until “early 2012″ to get its Brent Charlie platform, which has suffered a mechanical equipment maintenance backlog, back up and running again. [Read more...]

Melrose misses in Black Sea

London-listed Melrose Resources said today it has plugged and abandoned its Kaliakra East-1 exploration well in the Bulgarian Black Sea after the reservoir interval was found to be eroded.

The company said it will however move ahead with its programme on the Galata Block, and will shoot a 500-square kilometre 3D seismic study over the central area next month. [Read more...]
